About Mid Devon Air Quality Data

Mid Devon has an established programme of periodic and continuous air quality monitoring dating back to 1999. We have continued to expand our network of monitoring locations and now have three continuous monitoring stations, one in Crediton, one in Cullompton and one in Tiverton. We also place more simple monitoring devices (known as diffusion tubes) every month at nineteen other monitoring locations across the district. The diffusion tubes provide monthly average results for each monitoring location.

This air quality monitoring network is designed to target loactions where air quality is likely to be poor and as a result focuses on measuring vehicle emissions at roadside locations, especially where people live.

The website also provides access to data from seventeen periodic monitoring locations updated as monthly results. Nitrogen dioxide levels are monitored at these locations using a technique called passive diffusion tubes.

We hope that you find the site of interest and that you enjoy using it. The primary function of the website is to provide information that is both interesting and informative. We hope that we have achieved these aims.
